"Mom says that I was a dancer before I could walk.." ABBA, Thank You For The Music

About Me

Hi there! My name is Jess, and I am a dancer, choreographer, and artist. As the daughter of an ex-dancer, it was set in stone that I would start ballet as soon as possible. My mom enrolled me in my first dance class at age 3, and I never looked back after that! I became fascinated by the idea of telling stories through dance, and being able to play new characters on stage. At age 13, I suffered a major knee injury that led to reconstructive surgery. I learned to never take dancing for granted again, and I started competing the next year, taking my training to the next level. When I started competing, I remember thinking that my dance teachers had the most amazing job. They got to come up with ideas, pick songs, pick costumes, and build a dance from the ground up. I always had a feeling I'd find a way to choreographing!

When I went to college, I decided to work for a BFA in dance. I wasn't sure where it would lead me, but I knew I needed dance in my life! After graduating, I went back to school online to receive my MS in Marketing. As someone who is so involved with the arts, I wanted to study marketing and understand the business side of things, as I feel it is important for dancers, artists, studio owners, and choreographers to be able to market themselves.

I started teaching in my sophomore year of undergrad. I started as an assistant, then receiving my very first class by myself. From there, I was hooked. Over the past 8 years, I have taught students of all ages and abilities, even including an adult hip hop class for adults with special needs. There is truly nothing in the world that makes me happier than teaching and choreographing, and I am so eager and excited to share that passion with others!
